In the third quarter of 2025, the performance of navigation and maps applications on the Android platform in Switzerland revealed intriguing trends. Analyzing data from Sensor Tower, the top five apps in this category showed varied dynamics in terms of downloads and active users.
Polarsteps Travel witnessed a fluctuating download trend, starting at around 5K weekly downloads in early July, peaking at 6.1K mid-July, and then experiencing a gradual decline. Despite no revenue generation, active users increased steadily, reaching over 91K in mid-August before settling around 67K by the end of September.
The swisstopo app demonstrated a stable download pattern initially, with numbers around 3.7K to 4.4K, but saw a decline towards the end of the quarter, dropping to approximately 2.3K. Active users followed a similar declining trajectory, starting at 154K and decreasing to about 125K.
Waze Navigation & Live Traffic showed a modest growth in downloads from 2K to over 3.4K by late July, followed by a gradual decrease. Active users, however, remained relatively stable, hovering around 60K, with a slight increase towards the end of the quarter.
Google Earth exhibited consistent weekly downloads ranging between 1.3K and 1.8K, with active users showing a slight decline from 31K to approximately 24K by the end of September.
Lastly, Radarbot Speed Camera Detector saw a steady weekly revenue, maintaining figures around $3.3K to $4.7K. Downloads remained relatively stable between 1.1K and 2.2K, while active users decreased from around 11K to 7K over the quarter.
